The 9 of us were seperated by the Indian manager(yes, the damn good one) judging by experience. They wanted people who have been a food server before. That's like unfair to me la. I was a beverage server on Friday and they didn't want me to be a food server yesterday because yesterday's Chinese wedding had the most expensive menu in Raffles Hotel. One table costs around $1700, so that's like $170 per person LOL. So the manager wanted quality service. In the end, I was a beverage server again yesterday.
Yesterday was more slack because I was in charge of the 5 tables in front, where a lot of elderly were sitting. I just mainly poured tea over and over again since that's the most convenient job as a beverage server. There's one lady who wanted 3 candies and I was like 'huh?' so I went to find the manager and he said 'Wait wait'. Well, I don't think the candies were given to the lady in the end. Initially I thought there was a guy who had diabetes or an illness which makes the blood sugar content in the person low. After that I found out that it's got something to do with the muscles, probably similar to Tourette's Syndrome or nervous disorder.
Anyway, that guy was given special attention and it wasn't my fault for not giving him any candies. The TCC trainer taught us to listen to orders, and I was ordered to wait. At that point of time I really felt like offering my Fisherman's Friend but I was afraid that he couldn't take the mint.
There was a time when the bride and the bridegroom were entering the ballroom. Suddenly a China girl pulled me so hard my left side of the hips banged against the sharp edge of the wall while the other side knocked onto the chair of one elderly. I didn't even have time to apologise and I was made to station beside the dry ice. Everything happened so abruptly, but fortunately it ended smoothly. Damn the China girl.
For the rest of the time I was doing my job as a beverage server as usual and now I'm starting to like this job. I think the next time when I'm working I'll probably be the food server which is damn hiong and needs to carry heavy stuff.
After the wedding ended we had to clear all the stuff on the table. There was a lady in one of the front tables who gobbled up the slices of wedding cake. She was on the verge of choking and kept commenting that the cake was very delicious and unique. I took a small piece of cake at the pantry and it was damn sweet. It was as though I was eating sugar or those kind of figurines made with sugar which are used to decorate cakes. While everyone in the same table had taken their leave, that lady insisted on finishing the cake LOL, what a glutton.
After clearing everything, it's time to arrange the things in the ballroom again. My job was to clean the Lazy Susan zzz. Okay that was a slack job but I didn't know that I didn't have to clear the candle wax on top of them until Uncle Robot(forgot his name) told me to just wipe them. My next job was to fold the sash! ROFL this was actually a girl's job but Kangwei and I were given this slack job. After that I was told to set the tables and then wipe the plates. Everything was done and it's time to go!
When we were at the security counter, something happened. Some of the guys wrote their transport details in the 12.30am paper, but we were supposed to write in the 1.30am paper. So they were telling the security uncles that their manager only gave them this paper or whatever I don't know. Douglas told me that Benedict was already very bushuang at that moment because he wanted to go home to watch soccer match. After some negotiation, all of us took the 1.30am transport back home.
I slept at 3.30am today, damn late right? Then I couldn't sleep. Damn it. I tossed and turned until I managed to catch a wink. And shortly after that, I woke up again. I think I will be quite sleepy today. Okay that's about it, I go have my lunch already. Bye.
