It was around 1am in the middle of the night and I heard a quarrel downstairs at the void deck. Curiosity got the better of me and I peered out of my room's window with the lights on. It was difficult to see what was happening from my angle because I could only see part of the void deck. I tried to hear the conversation instead. Unfortunately, it was in Tamil. All I understood was the mother shouting defensively at her daughter's boyfriend 'WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM?!' and her daughter pleading her mother pathetically 'Please, Mum... Please...'
At that moment, I knew that the whole thing was about the mother disallowing her daughter to see her boyfriend. Not long after that, the father came down and got into the scene. His appearance sort of gave me a sense of relief, but his actions proved me wrong. He rushed to the scene and attempted to hit his daughter's boyfriend, but was impeded by his wife, who looked very strong. She kept pushing her husband backwards and was rather successful. Feeling threatened, his daughter's boyfriend wanted to give him a punch, but was also prevented by the girl. The girl tried to calm her boyfriend down and brought him to the open space carpark while he was constantly scolding profanities in Tamil and some in Malay which I sort of understood.
Meanwhile, the mother was shouting 'My daughter (name)!' repeatedly and wanted her to come back to the void deck. The girl was in a dilemma whether to go with her boyfriend or not. She assured her mother while crying and followed her boyfriend. Having a sense of victory, her boyfriend let out a laugh of disdain and satisfaction. However, the girl returned to her parents at the void deck while her boyfriend walked across the small carpark to the next block.
There were a little noise after that. Obviously I didn't know what they were talking about, probably the parents were relieved that their daughter returned to their side. Little did they know that the girl's boyfriend returned shortly after the family 'reunited'. I continued watching the great live drama, obviously not gloating over people's misfortune, but purely out of curiosity.
Here comes the exciting part. Overwhelmed by animosity, her father rushed to the guy immediately. I did not know what did the guy do to have enraged the father. All I knew was that the guy looked very gangster-like because of his actions. This time, her father successfully planted a forceful punch on the guy's face. This did not appease him as he continued to swing his fist in front of the guy but was again impeded by his wife.
It soon became a fearsome battle between two males, with the older one wanting to protect her daughter and probably wanting to teach the guy a lesson, while the younger one trying to show off his fighting skills and showing that he ain't any guy whom they could mess with. Unfortunately, both the mother and the daughter were unable to pull the guys apart despite putting in their utmost effort to prevent them from fighting. A little boy was beside them jumping frantically and said something which I didn't understand.
Just like any other fighting scenes in drama serials, the guys' hands were forcefully grabbing each other's upper body. They spun. They struggled, to break free from each other's grasp, but in vain. They continued spinning till they were beside a motorcycle parked along the small drain. I was so afraid that the father would be injured by the motorcycle, thankfully he wasn't.
Soon, one party lost his balance and both fell to the concrete ground. Taking advantage of the situation, the guy, who was on top of the father, grabbed the father's head and slammed it to the hard ground with force. I could even hear the loud 'POM!' sound of his head being slammed onto the ground. Aghast, my eyes widened with fear and looked at the guy in disbelief. I wanted to scream(because this was the first time I encountered such terrifying situation in real life). Both the mother and the daughter screamed upon looking at the state of the breadwinner of their family.
The guy stood up and left the scene, leaving the frantic mother, daughter and son with the motionless body. Seconds later, the father's hand moved and touched the back of his head. I squinted and tried to find any blood, thankfully I didn't find any. What if, the father suffered from an internal injury?
I rushed to my parents' room to wake my mother up. Guess what, my kaypoh mother was also standing by the windows in my sisters' room. She told me that she also saw the whole thing, but I actually witnessed what happened in the void deck while she didn't because my room had a clearer view of the void deck.
They were then crying and didn't know what to do. I saw the mother using her handphone, probably wanting to call the ambulance. They helped him up and brought him to the void deck. After that, my mother told me that the family returned to their house, which was also in the same block and same storey, but at different side of the block.
I thought that that was the end of the story, but I was wrong. I peered out of the windows in my room again and saw an ambulance making its way to the small carpark. There wasn't any siren, only flashing lights. Then, there was no one at the void deck as all of the people had left the scene. My mother told me that some kind neighbours probably dialled for an ambulance. The paramedics got down the ambulance with stretchers. Perplexed at the sight of the empty void deck, they probably thought that someone must have made a prank call. A couple came down and told them the whole dramatic incident. My erjie also woke up and kaypoh a little. She actually told my mother that she's very 三八 in a joking manner. Well, my erjie was like a pot calling a kettle black.
Shortly after they came down, the police arrived and talked to the kind neighbours. I heard them saying '没有血啊...' and looking at the spot where the father had laid on just now. My kaypoh but righteous mother was trying her very best to attract their attention and point to the 4th floor kitchen, indicating that the family lived there. However, she was unsuccessful. The ambulance then left the scene because they couldn't find the injured person.
I tried to help her by waving my handphone light out of the windows but they were totally blind man. My mother clapped to attract their attention, but to no avail. I clapped(my clap is very loud one okay) and the sound echoed around, BUT THEY WERE JUST SO DEAF. Finally, I didn't know what we did(because we were simply too crazy in our attempts to attract their attention) that attracted their attention and one policeman looked at us. I left my mother by the window and went to a place where they couldn't see me lols.
'四楼! 四楼!' and my mother pointed horizontally towards the kitchen.
'Oh... 那个扫把的啊?' the policeman asked, and finally understood.
My mother nodded her head and turned to me, saying 'Walao 那个警察眼睛 'ta stamp' (means kok eye) 啊? 那个明明是mop, 他讲成是扫把?!' Then I looked at the kitchen. Oh it's really a mop, not a broom LOL. I think the policemen went up and the couple went back to their home, so the whole incident ended with this.
I guess I was too tired or something. I actually dreamt about the day of the release of O Level's results. I remembered there were 3 or 4 papers, one page per paper. The first page states that I got 271 for my O Level's, and at that moment I felt a little disappointed. I flipped to the second page and I forgot what I saw. I flipped to the third page, and I got 8 points for O Level's LOL. I also forgot what the fourth page was about.
8 POINTS LOLOLOL :D But it's just a dream after all. People say that what one dreams is the opposite of reality. So since it's the opposite, I will still get 8 points after all :D Because no matter how you flip the number '8', it will still look roughly the same as the original '8'. HAHAHEHEHOHOHO.
Okay la back to reality. I really hope to get such good grades, if not, I'm mentally prepared. I just hope that I don't get a two-digit score. Bye guys.
